The whole pipe wall, not a punched channel

Hydro jetting, for a line a snake can only ever half-clear

A cable opens a path through whatever is blocking a pipe. Hydro jetting sends water down the line at high pressure and scours the full inside diameter, the difference between a line that stays open and one that clogs again soon.

Q.

How is jetting actually different from having a line snaked?

A cable drills or pushes a path through whatever is in its way, and the pipe reopens to roughly the width of the cable head. That is often enough for one isolated clog. Grease, soap film and years of buildup coating the inside of the pipe are a different problem: a cable punches through the middle of that coating and leaves most of it stuck to the wall, ready to narrow the line again within weeks. A jetting hose sprays water outward in every direction as it travels the pipe, stripping that coating off the full diameter rather than tunneling past it.

It is not the default first step for every clog. A single blockage with no history of repeating usually just needs a cable, and we will say so. Before recommending jetting, a camera confirms what the pipe is made of and how much wear it already carries, and pressure gets set from that, not guessed at.

WHEN JETTING IS THE RIGHT CALL

What points at jetting instead of cabling

  • The same line has clogged more than once

A repeat clog in the same spot is a sign of buildup coating the pipe wall, which a cable pass alone will not remove.

  • Grease is the known culprit in a kitchen line

Grease cools and clings to the full inside of a pipe, and stripping it off the wall is exactly what jetting is built to do.

  • A camera pass already shows scale or buildup on the wall

Visual confirmation the pipe’s working diameter has actually shrunk, the clearest case for jetting over spot clearing.

  • Fine root intrusion in an outdoor line

Jetting clears light roots from the interior of a pipe well, though a heavier root mass usually needs a longer-term fix alongside it.

DAVIE, SPECIFICALLY

Where jetting earns its keep on a Davie property

Three local patterns shape when we reach for it.

Rental-heavy blocks near Nova Southeastern University

Kitchen disposals in higher-turnover rental units tend to run harder than in an owner-occupied home, and the grease load that builds up under that use is exactly what jetting resets rather than a repeat cable pass.

On a septic system, the work stops at the tank

Jetting the house lateral is routine on a property west of University Drive, but the line stops being jetted at the tank inlet, since pushing pressure past it risks disturbing the drainfield beyond it.

Cast iron surviving in the oldest tract sections

Where a decades-old cast iron branch is still in service, interior scale narrows it gradually, and we confirm its condition by camera before choosing a pressure setting an aging line can actually handle.

Questions we get about jetting

Is hydro jetting safe for an older pipe?

Before recommending it, we run a camera through the line to see what it is made of and how much wear it already carries, and pressure gets scaled down for anything already compromised.

Does jetting clear a clog the same visit?

In most cases, yes, and it leaves the entire interior of the pipe clean afterward, not just a narrow path punched through the middle the way a cable does.

Is jetting overkill for a single, one-time clog?

Often, yes. A clog with no history of repeating usually just needs a cable, and we recommend that smaller job when it is genuinely the right fix.

Can jetting be used on a line that feeds a septic tank?

Yes, up to the tank connection. We do not run pressure past that point into the drainfield, since that part of the system is not built to take it.

How do I know if my line even needs jetting?

Running a camera down the line beats guessing from symptoms. We can do that in the same visit as the jetting itself, and you watch the footage before agreeing to anything.

Will jetting damage an older joint or fitting?

Our equipment lets us dial pressure up or down by hand, and we set it based on what that specific pipe and its joints can take rather than running one setting on every job.

Same drain, clogging again?

Let’s clear the whole line, not just a path through it

When a cable pass only ever holds for a short stretch before the same clog returns, jetting is the fix that resets the whole line.
